This project took a LOOOOOONG time. I want to say three years, if not a little more. Brooke had a lot of the songs done, but was still kind of developing herself as an artist. She’s amazing. Her lyrics have a sophistication that she didn’t have any business having when she was 16 and writing them. She’s in her 20’s now, and even more incredible.

Chris and I did this album from the ground up. Her lyrics and melodies stayed. Many/most of the chords, too. But, we brought in a monster rhythm section and cut them all looking for a musical sound that fit her. It needed to be soulful, but it needed to have that crazy blend of maturity and innocence that Brooke exudes. The album ended up sounding SO GOOD!!! Really great songs, really great production, even added strings on a couple of the songs. It’s a great record. You should definitely check it out. The guitar player on the title track PLAYED that thing. He’s a pain, but dude will play a solo. Smh.
